wee wee whiner

Boy, does that post about my PIF sound whiney! *lol* My offer will stay open ... if anyone should like to sign up, please leave me a comment & we'll proceed from there. In the meantime, maybe I'll get ambitious enough to just choose people of my own to share a RAK with. ;o) Will it be you?

We took the kids to the zoo last night to see the Wildlights & what animals we could. We got there while it was still daylight so we were able to see the flamingos outside but we saw few other 'outside' animals. The kids liked the reptiles - I liked the aquarium. ;o)

I think today's to be a somewhat quiet day - get the house in order a bit for tomorrow. We're getting pizza from a couple of the south end pizza joints to give Josh & Meg a taste of what they're missing. *lol* They're talking seriously about moving here ... how cool will that be, to have them & theirs here as well as Andrea, Joe & Xander???

I got a little bit of stitching in yesterday afternoon ... I may actually finish Quilt Time Sampler! And maybe my silks will arrive today so I can have "Two Blue Houses" all kitted & ready for Monday. I *should* work on the boosters books & such once the house quiets down Sunday evening, but ... nope. Monday's going to be for ME. I figure Tom will alternate sleeping with football watching all day Monday, so I'll just stitch away. :o)

No one likes me? ;o)

Wow ... I knew I was posting 'pay it forward' at a possibly inopportune time but I thought someone would sign up by now! :o(

I'm back at work ... still haven't posted stitching pictures. Just been busy with the stuff of life. Have spent my lunchtime surfing others' blogs & discovered a cool one by a woman farmer in Montana. Very cool. I'll explore moe from her site later.

Tom's son & family will be here this afternoon ... madness & mayhem will prevail with 3 little kids in our house! It'll be great fun & a wild change from the usual.

Friday, December 22, 2006

Well, I've joined the ranks of the stitching bloggers who are "paying it forward" ...

So, now here's your chance to get a legendary, one of a kind, work of stitched art by ME for the very low price of...nothing! That's right! This is my PIF post! Be one of the first five people to sign the comment section below and I will mail you one of my masterpieces in the next three months :o) What's the catch, you ask? Well, you just have to PIF to five more people :o) Simple as that!

Now I can't tell you what you'll be getting because that would ruin the surprise but I can tell you that it will be handmade by me. This event will not repeat itself! Sign up now because when they're gone, they're gone!

I'd like to know when we moved to the tropics ... I don't remember doing so, but with 50 degree temps & rain, we must have moved. :o)

I didn't get any stitching done last night, though I did finally get Kel's piece mounted & in the frame. Tonight's sewing ornaments & finishing the backs of all the framed pieces. And we need to get the next few days planned - what we need from the grocery store, etc - so we can all sit back & relax, SOON. At least the office seems to have quieted down, though one boss is blasting off email requests constantly since he's trying to finish a lot of things before he heads to FL next week. Gotta love that ol' trickle-down stuff. ;o) Anyway, I'll try to post pictures tonight of my finishes ... In the meantime, I've had great fun looking at everyone else's! Thanks to all who share on their blogs & such!!

Isn't he just the most beautiful baby???

This is my great-nephew, who is on a plane this evening, flying home to FL. I miss him!!!! He is the sweetest cutest baby - a real joy! He's 3 months old, jabbers a mile a minute, grins beautifully ... we all very much loved having him here. Oh, his mom (my niece) & his dad (her husband) were here too ... ;o) We've not seen my niece in 4 years & we'd not met her husband before this weekend. We had a wonderful, wonderful long weekend with them. They're hoping to move here sometime within the next year - we're all keeping our fingers crossed that it all works out!

Needless to say, I got very little stitching done. We still don't have a tree up. I think I have most of my shopping done, but stuff that's to be mailed is still in bags, all around the house. :-( Kel's finished her baking, gift wrapping ... everything goes to school with her tomorrow, then she's done with school until January. Cool .. now she gets to clean the house! *lol*

And CBJ won tonight! YEA! Beat the Detroit Red Wings!! Yea, Jackets!!

Ok, what's the deal? Gabby Hayes here today ... ;o)

Kelli & I went to my client/friend's open house this evening, in German Village. For those unfamiliar with Columbus OH, we are a city settled in by many different nationalities, but one of the earliest & strongest were the Germans.

Add to that, that my own ancestry is predominantly German ... and you have this woman here who loves the German influence in her Christmas. My maternal grandmother always made sure we had plenty of anise cookies, Pfefferneuse, springerle .. all sorts of yummy cookies, mostly with some sort of German heritage attached.

Anyway ... there's been this small, family-owned & operated bakery in German Village that is open only during the Christmas holidays. I've wanted to stop there for years but they used to have very short daily hours, often closing by noon, when the cookie supply for the day ran out. This year, they're open until 6pm or 7pm! Whoo hoo! So, Tom being the nice guy he is, stopped there Tuesday & bought a box full of assorted cookies for us. As we decide which we like the most, we'll buy more. The silly things cost $14 a pound (!!!) but oh ... they are soooooo good! Tonight, I've been searching (quickly) online for pictures of the cookies so I'd know what I was talking about when I ask him to go buy more or when I stop there. Haven't been very successful, but ... that's not stopped me from eating a few of what we have left here! :o)

Gotta love Christmas cookies!!

How do I...

add a counter to my site?  this new "beta blogger" is too weird!  i could sneak my way through the html of the old blogger ... :-(

help, anyone?

It's the 14th!

Happy birthday to me! ;o) Yep, I'm weird.

The best gift was the morning hugs & kisses from Kel ... of course! She made me a birthday card - I'll share a picture later. And she got me "Miracle on 34th St" on DVD - yea!!!! Oh wait ... it's on my credit card! *lol* Mom got me 3 more Italian charms & a mushy card (her favorite kind) - and tonight I get to unwrap the sweater & turtleneck she bought me a couple of weeks ago. ;o) Tom was sound asleep when I left this morning ... I'll get snuggles from him tonight! We've been invited to a client/friend's open house this evening, so I hope he's up to going ... she always has great parties. And I just bought 2 tickets from one of my bosses for this Saturday's CBJ (hockey) game - YEA!!! They're having all sorts of pregame holiday stuff, then the players are signing autographs afterwards. Oh yeah ... I will stay for that! Let's see ... who all do I want to try to get? Jody, of course ... Manny? Ah! Anders aka Bubba. He's such a sweetie. Maybe Steady Freddy ... gotta get the Nasty Norwegian for Tom ... No, Tom will not stand there & wait for autographs .. but I will! :o)

And my niece called last night, confirming their arrival times tomorrow & all. Cannot wait!!! It's been at least 3 years, probably more like 5, since I've seen her ... and we get to meet her husband & Xander! Whoo hoo!!! Gonna be a busy weekend for us - Sat morning, Kel & I have hair appts, Sat afternoon Mike & Linda will be here, Sat night's game, Sun afternoon an open house at Tom's nephew's (finally finished!) house, then dinner with all of my family ... and I'm off Monday so I can spend time with my niece & all. Hmmm ... maybe I can squeeze some shopping in there, too? How can it already be Dec 14?!?!?!

will it get done?

This little guy is soooo cute & I am going to get him done as a friend's present for Christmas ... but, man, is every one of those over-one stitches taking forever!  *lol*

I've spent tonight finishing most of our Christmas cards so they'll go in the mail tomorrow.  I've got to buy another box - and here I thought I'd have leftovers!  Oh well ...

Kel's holiday concert last night was wonderful!  The different bands did so good-it was cool to see Kelli in the symphonic band.  How far she's come since the summer before her freshman year!  And I loved seeing all of the kids - didn't realize how much I've missed them!

Mom's fob

I have the front & back stitched ... now to assemble it before Christmas!  ;o)

I finished Country Cottage's JCS ornament.  The fabric I'm using for the backing doesn't show real well in the picture, but I think they're going to look great together.

And, I did refold my fabrics ... then paired a number of them with ornaments to be finished this week:

and (ta-da!) Isabelle Vautier's freebie "Joyeux Noel" for Kelli's French tutor, though this is the in-progress picture:

I have half our Christmas cards addressed, signed, stamped - ready to mail tomorrow!

I feel I accomplished quite a lot this weekend.  Yea, me!  *lol*

Oh - and here's my Red Hat ornament finish:

As Tom's niece said, the gaudier the better!  :o)

I've done laundry, sorted out my winter/Christmas sweaters ... I didn't accomplish quite all I'd have liked to but I cannot complain at all about what I did get done.  Phew!

too funny!

We're always teasing my daughter about everything being about her -
have bought her tshirts, etc etc.  Add to that some recent happenings in
my life, and this quote on my Google homepage today
is toooooo funny:

When they discover the center of the universe, a lot of people will be
disappointed to discover they are not it.  - Bernard Bailey

Wonder how long it'd take me to x-stitch that for Kel?  :o)

Mary Kathryn (aka Happy Stitcher) posted a picture recently of the fabrics she'd started organizing in one of her Longabergers. I really liked the idea, so last night, I gathered mine from their container in the basement - so, they're now in my Longaberger (lol) but in major need of re-folding & such. I considered doing it last night as a calming effort, but ... didn't. Instead, I stitched a bit which always feeds my spirit.

So, tonight, if I'm too tired or buzzed after our cookie exchange, maybe I'll play with these pieces of fabric. I'll post a picture when I have done the reorganizing ... there, holding myself accountable! *lol*

Country Cottage almost done

For whatever reason, this thing is taking me far longer than it should! *lol* At least now all I have left is the white of the sheep, the stars, the windows ... I want this finished by tomorrow night so Sunday, I can sit at the sewing machine & get finishes done. I can do this ... I can do this! :-)

Dec 7

Ok, this Advent graphic doesn't come even close to memorializing Pearl Harbor ... but, it's the one I have. :-(

Some days, the drama & nonsense at work is pretty unbelievable - and this was one of those days. One particular coworker has been saying a lot of inappropriate things this week to clients, auditors, coworkers ... it's pretty sad & weird. Our newest employee is about to lose her mind from it all. Not good. And all of our annual year-end nonsense is picking up speed ... the guys are adding these numbers & talking about this & that & trying to figure out what we have money for & what we don't, how big their bonuses will be, how big ours won't be ;-) ... here, fill this out. What do you do with this for this client? Can we up our rates to compare with that? *sigh* Silly silly silly.

Tomorrow's the cookie exchange here. It's going to be such fun! But I still can't decide what my "generic" gift will be! *lol*

Ok ... off to stitch!

One finish

Cool ... taking the picture with my camera phone works for this! ;o)

CBJ Won!

The guys did an awesome job last night!!! They shutout the Avalanche - a huge turnaround for CBJ & a huge win over Colorado. CBJ's never won at Colorado - until last night. The Av's had way more shots ... but ours were the ones that made it in! The game was just incredible ..!

More high school drama in Kel's life .... the sort that makes you wonder what some kids live with at home, that they come to school & behave as they do. Truly sad.

Stitched a bit last night on CC's ornament from JCS. I realized, after I'd put it all away for the night, that I have this handy dandy camera on my cell phone now. I think it'd be much easier to use to get pictures here of my stitching. Maybe tonight my brain will click in & I'll remember to try it! :o)

uh oh

I've found the prettiest French blinkie website ... I'm in big trouble! ;o) I've joined her site ... not sure yet what that really means or gets me, but ... cute stuff! I'm going to have to figure out how to use Babelfish to translate it all but I can do that ... sometime. Anyway ... It's another fine day here in chilly Ohio. The cold temps of winter are here but no real snow, yet. Flurries yesterday, but ... no accumulation yet. It'll come.

Did a bit of shopping last night - got a cool pair of shoes, a couple of pairs of pants, a sweater - love those sales! Kel did a Hot Topic run for a friend's gifts. Oh, and we got the pink sweater Mom & Kelli insisted I get so we'll all be wearing pink on Christmas day. We've even ordered the Victoria Secret's raspberry Santa hats. This is gonna be good! :o) By the time I took Kelli to her dad's & got Mom & I home, I was pretty much done for the night. Knitted a few rows on Ethan's shawl/scarf but that was it. And I did email my west coast friend (bwc=best west coast) ... not sure if things are getting straightened out or finishing off. Pretty strange, sad experience ...

*deep breath*

Ok, I've lots of work to do here so I'd best be to it!

my bwc friend

because my life's been strange lately, i've taken things a bit 'on the chin' and now have upset/angered/whatever'd my bwc friend. i've been retreating, not really doing much online of late because of all that seems to swirl about me lately. my cousin's wife has been released home - my worry about my cousin has increased as he tries to do more than one person probably can. my mom's best friend - my 'second mom' - was diagnosed last week with cancerous tumors on her liver. not good at all. so add a bit of additional concern for my mom & her friend - and her family. (ok, add a lot) kel had her first real date this past weekend - so we discussed & discussed if she should be allowed to go because of her schoolwork, because of the weather, becausebecausebecause. my ex-sil had 24 mini strokes ... my niece & her family will be here in 10 days & i'm so not ready. tom's son & his family may be here at the holidays - may not, since he lost his job, went off the wagon, lives 8 hours away. tom's niece has gotten quite mouthy (not unusual) about her impending move into her mother's house and what tom's behavior & actions "should" be. everyone wants to be together for christmas but almost everyone is complaining/whining about money. and on and on and on ... and while it's a lot of stuff i can't directly affect, it has it's affect on me. i want off my antidepressant 'cause i'm tired of weighing a zillion pounds & waddling everywhere ... so i've cut it back even further. will it be a wise move? who knows ...

oh, anyway ... i didn't intend to hurt my bwc/f's feelings, which is probably what i did. i'm sorry!

Just what I don't need ... something else I "have" to have! *lol* I just ordered a Quaker stocking from Elegant Stitch ... and just discovered this Sampler Girl one at Mary Kathryn's OLS. I know I'll eventually break down & buy this but first, I'm going to go through my stash after Christmas, clean out what I won't do, sell it on eBay or some such thing. May do the same with some of my Longaberger's. We'll see.. Right now, I'm in the mood to minimize - wouldn't have anything to do with Tom moving more of his stuff in, finally, would it? ;o) Before long, we're going to have to start hanging things from the ceilings. Two anal stashaholics (ok, he doesn't collect stitching stash, but books ...) living together ... what an adventure! :o)

Finished stitching an ornament over the weekend, but haven't taken a picture yet. My frames from Lori arrived - yea! I may have Michael's cut the foamboards though, as a couple are a bit larger. I need to get to finishing things - ornaments, things to be framed ... one frame has to be painted - the "Love You Forever" I've done for Kelli. And I need to figure out what to stitch for Chelsea - I want to give her an ornament or something for Christmas. She's such a sweetie! I started a scarf/shawl for Ethan - he decided he likes Tom's & now wants one for himself. That works! ;o)

Three weeks from today is Christmas ... I am not going to spaz about a countdown. All that I want to do, will get done. Kel & I got all of the decorations & such out of the crawlspace on Saturday, so slowly but surely, our house will morph ... HoHoHo!
