Accountability

i joined a blog that is a monthly ornament sal .. and guess what? i stitched an ornament this month!  *lol*  it's brightneedle's "love in a manger" stitched over-one.  i need to add petite beads for snow around the tree, but i have to buy them before i can add them.  ;-)
the 2 clothespins that are with this are antiques (obviously) ..  i have a little glass with about 15 or so of these, left from my grandmother's house.  i've still got her clothespin "dress" with her wooden clothespins too.  yep, i'm a packrat of my family's things ... ;-)
somewhat quiet weekend here, after the booster officer breakfast yesterday, then kel & i getting the rest of her needs for next weekend's dance.  i brought work home that never even left my car.  *lol*  i've stitched, cleaned a bit .. just ... been here at home.  haven't slept well for a few days - not sure what all's up with that, though i do know some of it's origin.
anyway ... another crazy week ahead of us.  hope the weird weather stays away!

In her memory...

Probably most everyone who reads my blog knows of Cheryl Miller, a super accomplished stitcher, a woman with a huge giving soul - and her recent passing. Three fellow stitchers have teamed up & created a beautiful piece to stitch in her memory:
http://www.needlemania-by-marc.com/6.html

It's free ... you just download it with Adobe. If you're so inclined, please go print it & stitch it when you can, remembering as you do so, all of our fellow stitchers who are sitting in Heaven, looking down at us, stitching away ...

Getting there

I made pretty good progress last night, stitching while CBJ played. We'll see what the weekend brings - if I switch to the rotations I want to start or keep at this one until it's done. Sunday is supposed to be an ornament stitching day ... will I be good? ;o)

Techno deprived!

Oh, man ... I left my cell phone on the charger at home, then found out after I got to the office that my Palm won't come on. I feel so bereft! ;-) Oh, well, I've got my iPod Shuffle so at least I have music! And because I have no cell phone, I have no pictures to share ... now, aren't you as tech lonely as me? *lol*

finished

My eyes are tired but I did finish Tree of Me. The "badges" are a flag (I collect Americana, Tom's a Vietnam vet, etc), a x-stitch piece, a hockey stick (go CBJ!), a flower (love my gardens!) & a star (my CB handle was 'shooting star' & I have a fascination for the heavens), and a music note in the center (Kelli).

Bent Creek designed a cat & a dog to use at the base, but we don't have pets, so ... I didn't add them.

Yea! Another finish!

Thank you, Bent Creek!

Wow .. that is truly not the best picture I've ever taken, but it'll do for now.

Bent Creek FINALLY came through from last May's Stitcher's Retreat! YEA!!! I received Marsha's sheet of 'badges' for this pattern, Tree About Me. She didn't send us nearly all she said she was doing, but that's ok. (What can I do about it anyway? *lol*) I'm now finishing this piece before anything else. BC also sent the snowman chart from The Red Thread as well as the border for the entire collection. I'm not going to be stitching any of it though I do like their words around the border. I've got someone I'm gifting the chart to, so it won't sit in my house & gather dust. ;o)

Since tomorrow's Valentine's Day & I know I won't be going to the office, I am going to take time during the day to stitch - and it'll be on my Quaker Samplings. How color-coordinated for the day can I be??? *lol*

Yep, no office tomorrow. We're covered in ice now - everywhere - and we're still to get more snow tonight. Too much fun for me!

Thank you, Bent Creek!

snow, again!

Poor birds were trying to get to the feeder, so after this picture was taken, Kel went out & cleaned off the snow ...

and now we're hearing the snow "crinkling" ... temp's at about 30 so my guess is, we're now getting a bit of freezing rain. Lovely ...

Thank you!

To all who leave comments here, thank you! I so appreciate you!!

a bit more

I've gotten a bit more done on QSI. My eyes have been so tired & dry by the time I sit down to stitch in the evenings, I've not gotten as much done as I'd hoped, but ... it's coming along. Today, I'm going to get out the fabric for Gameboard Sampler, see if I'm really up to starting it, then actually do so - and I think I'm going to start a rotation schedule. I've always stitched one thing at a time, start to finish, but I FINALLY received the 'badges' for my Bent Creek "Tree of Me" so I want to finish that (HALLELUJAH!), and I want to start on my Maureen Stapleton piece, and I'm going to join the ornament a month blog so it must be time to try rotating. Can I multitask my stitching? *lol*

I'd really hoped to stay in all day today but I may need to run to Kohl's to get Nate a V Day gift so we can get their box in the mail tomorrow (we are so last minute with too many things! *lol*). At least the sun's trying to shine. The weather gurus are predicting 1-2" of snow for us tomorrow, followed Tuesday by that infamous "wintry mix" - yuck!!! Yep, I'll be toting work back & forth every day in case I need/want to stay here & work from home rather than spend all of my time trying to get back & forth to the office. I'm trying not to complain - this could be those poor towns in NY with 100+ inches of snow!

Progress

I started this over the past weekend ... Quaker Samplings I from With My Needle (is that right? *lol*). I'm sure lovin' this!!

CBJ

and one of the worst things about the weather we've had the last few days?

well, one is my drive home yesterday. took me 2.25 hours (normally takes about .5). i don't know that my clutch leg will ever be the same! *lol* but i got home safe & sound, so ... no loud complaining.

but ... about 13,500 people trekked to nationwide arena last night to watch the bluejackets play hockey. they SHOULD have won. they lost. soundly. 3-0. badbadBAD. if anyone had a 'right' to play a bit poorly, it would have been phoenix. they were in columbus well in time for the game but it took them over 2 hours to get to the arena from their hotel (like me, should have taken maybe 1/2 hour). the game started 30 minutes late to give phoenix time to get in, dressed, etc. cbj should have been raring to go ... but, noooooooo ... they played very well for about 8 minutes, then ... poop. gone. no energy, no cohesiveness, no whatever. i felt so bad for the fans & for the coach - oh, was hitch angry and rightfully so. guess the lines will be changing again, before tomorrow's game. maybe it's time to sit some out again, try somehow to get through ... i love my cbj but man, it's way past time to play the way they can!

and now ours...

This is what we have this morning ... and oh, is it COLD!

We've got snow!

We went to M&L's for the weekend ... some snow, LOTS of cold! It's like being in Arizona when someone says "it's only 112 & it's not humid, so it's not hot!!!" ... sorry, that doesn't work nor does "oh, it's only -7 below this morning without the wind chill". Cold is COLD and hot is HOT. :o) These pics are from M&L's back window ...
