updating, some

I think I've a better picture of this on my camera, but I need to charge batteries to be able to download ... so, for now, this will work. This picture doesn't begin to do the finishing justice but I have to share how pleased I am with it. If anyone ever needs framing done, for anything, Keepsakes is awesome!

I am soooo pleased with this! Keepsakes in Cincinnati did a great job with framing this - though the photo for some reason makes it look like the frames bowed. *lol*

Here's my beautiful DD & an incoming freshman who's working with her in the pit ... they've become great friends, as I have with the girl's mom.

Our silent auction was successful ... not as much as I'd thought it would be, but money's money ... ya take what ya get! *lol* Our director seems to still think we can have a 'classy' event & have attendees & make money ... oookkkkkkk .... Oh well, I'm planning to be a sideliner with it, if it's held again next year, so I'll make my notes & pass them on.

Jane's done

Not the best photo but ... it shows I'm done! I tried doing the nun stitch to create a finishing border - did about 8" down the side & found out I'd not counted out far enough, so I frogged those stitches and set this aside. I want a simple finish, so I'll play with the sewing maching, maybe, see what stitch I can run around it. Who knows? Any suggestions, anyone?
A friend is picking up my 2 framed finishes for me today, in Cincinnati ... so I get them tonight. YEA!!!

Children

This young man ... a dear friend of my daughter and one of my "adopted" sons ... committed suicide Monday. My heart aches for him and for all of the friends he left behind. I wish he'd really understood how many people cared for him, loved him, wanted him around for the rest of their lives. I pray he's found peace at last ... and that he & his brother are catching up on old times, in heaven.
Please ... if any teen you know attempts suicide even once, if they talk about it, if in any way you know they're thinking about it ... move heaven & earth to get through to them! Chris didn't need to die ... he shouldn't have died. He just shouldn't have ...

Whoo hoo!!!

My signature RR is home at last & finished into a pillow by the lovely Ms. Shari! Thank you, Shari - I soooo love it! And thank you to all who signed it ... I will treasure this forever!

I love little girls

Tom's nephew's wife had a baby a month ago & surprisingly, I finished the birth sampler AND got it cubed today. Yea, me! *lol*

I didn't like any of the wired ribbons I had for the cube, but I remembered the pale green rickrack I'd bought last year for stuff I've not yet made (big surprise!) .. It was a perfect trim for the piece, so I just tacked it in place with the heart pins I have ... yep, I'm pleased! We bought her 3 cute onesies (Kel & I are soooo dangerous buying kids' clothes *lol*) so it'll all get mailed in the cute ME "cutey patootey" box I got.

Yesterday ended up less fruitful than I'd planned ... but, it all works out. I've been up since about 7am today, getting things done. I probably should do a bit more work on booster/silent auction stuff but ... nah. Time for some quiet time ... some time thanking God for the glorious gift of His son. Hallelujah, He is Risen!

Jane Austen

When I saw Mary Kathryn working on this piece, I knew I had to do it. I love Jane & this particular phrase of hers is very apropos to my household. ;o) When I had the floss in my hands, I first though "ewwww! what strange colors for a sampler!" but I really like how they work together. I'm about half done ... maybe, maybe I'll get it done this weekend. (HA!) I'm going to do try the Nun stitch for the finish ... everyone keep their fingers crossed for me, please! :o)

We had enough snow yesterday that there is still some on the ground ... YUCK! Glad I'm not going on any Easter egg hunts this weekend! *lol*

Yesterday was my DD's 17th birthday .. how did she get here so fast??? We're not really celebrating until next weekend, when she's back with us - though she is going to the hockey game with us tonight (Fan Finale - yea!). Her grade card arrived yesterday & I debated opening it on her birthday - didn't seem quite fair, you know? But I did, with the thought that if there was anything on there I didn't like, I'd save my "!@&#&^" for today *lol* but that wasn't a concern! She's working much harder in chemistry & math - grasping what they're doing better - and has brought all of her grades up. Yea!!!

Winter again????

Good heavens ... we had summer & now we're apparently back into winter - or did we go forward all the seasons while I slept? ;o)

Tax season is really kicking my butt ... I go home at night, stitch a bit, collapse into bed. Oh, and work on booster stuff in between stitching & sleeping. It's not even my workload that's doing it - it's all the 'tudes and loud voices and ringing phones and nonsense of my office that are getting to me. I'm thinking I need a day or two away in the quiet of a woods somewhere ... think I'll be talking to Tom about that! ;o)

Thank you all who leave comments here! I very much appreciate them all!

Yea, me! ;o)

The template for this sampler was given to those of us who attended the PALs gathering last fall - as well as the fabric (Picture This Plus) & the fibers (Vikki Clayton's premium silks - yum!) & the embellishments. Mary (M Designs - the designer) had charted the alphabet and many motifs, then we pieced, designed, whatever we wanted to create a personalized family sampler. Too cool!

I've added flags (patriotic, we are!), our house & the year it was built, my DD, our interest in music, a quilt pattern (Dresden plate), a flower (I love my gardens!), my first initial with Tom's, books as we all love reading, a Vietnam vet feather (Tom), CBJ for our home hockey team (our other major passion) & my cross stitching. This was a truly fun piece to create & stitch! I hope Mary releases it to the public - I think a lot of people would have fun with this.

I also have sewn & stuffed 3 pincushions, so will do the final assembling of them today - and I finished "Here I Am" for Tom's new great-niece. I'll post pictures later.

Pretty productive day yesterday with things around the house & stitching - I started the Jane Austen piece from The Gift of Stitching. Today's booster work, the pincushions, then hopefully stitching while CBJ plays today. No outside work - it's been raining & is supposed to do more later today. My fingers are itching to play in the dirt!!
