A new project

I finally made a pinkeep! Yea, me! *lol* I think starting with a smaller one may not have been the smartest idea, but ... at least I finally made one. Now to finish more ....

The guy's worked himself crazy! Ok, he was already crazy... but Tom's put in a LOT of work these last few days, getting the vegetable garden going. The first picture is a few of the mounds for zucchini & such, with his infamous headstone. The furthest is for the 2 little boys next door - they get such a giggle out of Tom doing this! The other is Kel's & says "I told you I was sick". There's a 3rd I don't have here, for my niece's husband. He loves to tease Tom, so he now is in our garden. His says "RIP Joe ASAP". ;o)

Now, we wait for everything to grow & produce ... well, with some help from us & Mother Nature. Still have weed whacking to do at the back since our service didn't treat back there and a few more seeds to sow, but ... we're ahead of last year. Yea!!

Yard work

What a weekend of work! We'd heard we were to get rain today, so yesterday, we hit the yard work HARD. Kel & I spent about 5-1/2 hours on the front & side flower beds, Tom spent about 4 yesterday and today on the veg garden. Kel & I dug and treated, adding "garden soil" and manure to the flower beds, then planting at least 5 flats of flowers. Now, everyone cross their fingers that it all takes & we've got riotous color for the summer! :o)

These photos are (1) approaching the front porch, showing the stepping stone Linda made me for my last birthday (2) the shrubs, wheelbarrow & shovel (both were my grandfather's) to the side of the front porch (3) my lovely Japanese irises in bloom & some of our hens & chicks and (4) a cleaned-up Kel after a day of yard work.

Tom tilled again and planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers - seeds for beans, squash, melons ... he's got potatoes left to put in & seeds for onions, a few lettuces, cabbage - but the bulk of his work is done. He FINALLY cleared out the weed fabric from last summer (YEA!!!) and tilled that corner all under.

Uh oh! Thunder's been heard ... I'm off!

One down ...

I'm participating in a round robin with 8 other women in PALs. We've got 6 weeks to do each piece we receive - but I got my first one done early. (whoo hoo!) For Toni's, we're to do at least 1 block, but I did two - #2 & #3, from the left, in the top row. This is one chart I've considered buying, but after stitching my 2 blocks and updating my schedule of my own stash - I know I won't. It's a beautiful piece and looking at my photo of what I stitched, I see the patterns in the blocks far better than when I was stitching it. *lol* I just couldn't seem to get a "rhythm" to what I was doing ... maybe it was my own frame of mind, maybe it's the chart. Dunno, doesn't matter. I do think this is a good piece for a round robin & I know Toni's going to love it when it's completed and back in her home.

I did start my ornament, for an exchange I'm in, last night. My partner in the exchange has taste similar to my own and I love this piece from JCS' ornament issue, so ... hopefully she'll like it as well as like my tweaking of it. *lol* I hope to finish it as a pinkeep ornament ... fingers crossed, everyone, please!

Ouch! I've been tagged! :o)

Kim got me with the 7 Things meme!

Here are the rules: Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. You need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they have been tagged and to read your blog!

Humm, let's see..

1. I collect baskets ... not just Longabergers, but ones that belonged to my grandmother & others I've found along the way

2. I met my honey online ... he was very empathetic when I had to leave behind a beautiful garden (selling my house) and that just grabbed me big time!

3. I love music of most any sort & far prefer it to tv.

4. I am totally addicted to ice hockey. TOTALLY!

5. I love quiet weekend mornings when everyone else in the house is sound asleep

6. I cannot STAND bare walls in a home ... they make me twitch! ;o)

7. I love gardening, with a passion. As a matter of fact - there are at least 5 flats of flowers sitting on my front porch, waiting for the weather to cooperate again.

I tag:

I tag the following:

I bought the finishing kits for these 2 (and Apples) from Mary Kathryn at least a year ago. Now I have finally completed stitching all 3, so this weekend these 2 will get made into pillows. (I did the 3rd a few months ago)

These are such fun pieces from Little House - and Mary Kathryn's finishing kits are great!

There's been a part of my brain, preoccupied with a discontent this week ... and as I've periodically wondered about it, I've come across at least a part of it ..

This stack of file boxes greets us as we enter our offices, those of us who occupy my side of our offices. There are more ... behind these stacks, enough to fill that office cubicle. Inquiring minds want to know why they've not been taken to our storage facility .. but, hey, the 'powers' here don't work on our side, so ... what the heck, right?

This lovely pile of trash is what you see/climb over to get in & out of our main backdoor here at work ... and you skirt to get to the restrooms or the rest of the kitchen area (the tiled floor). Why, you might ask, is trash accumulated here? Because bozo #1 insists on being our 'maintenance' person, so bozo #2 and the rest of us won't touch it. Yes, it's self-defeating but .. if 3 partners don't have enough kahunas to stand up to the first & hire a real cleaning service ... fine.
There are times I'm surprised I don't hyperventilate, as I take deep breaths, trying not to spaz out ... I apparently truly am waiting for a magical job to land in my lap, literally. Silly me. And I make excuses as to why I don't do more to change my job. Again, silly me. Past time for some major self-awareness, self-evaluation ... I have found, on a positive note, that driving our van to & from work has helped my road rage. Not having to shift gears and push the clutch pedal has been a great change! As much as I've enjoyed my little Focus and as good as it's been to me, I'm going to be very grateful to have a permanent change to an automatic transmission! :o)
Stitching's been quite limited this week ... Hockey playoffs have resumed, so maybe I'll get more done!

There ... that one's better! :o)

To all who leave comments here ... THANK YOU! I always have great plans to sit here & peruse everyone's blogs & leave comments of my own - and sometimes I actually do! - but, usually it's one of the 'good intentions' I have. I very much appreciate all of your comments! I love this medium we have, to share our lives & our craft.
