Kel's haircut

Before ...

during .... (ponytail went to Locks of Love)

and, after!

Xander opening presents - the chaos! :-)

Chill time with Grandpa Tom ...

The war club Tom's son made him - too cool!

The grandkids .... love 'em!

Kel's ornament

I stitched this for Kel ... now to actually finish it into an ornament! :o)

To continue the scrapbooking I was doing, I decorated tin pails for Tom's grandkids & made an album for his DIL. I'm not sure how long any of these will last in the kids' hands but they were fun to make. ;o)
I also stitched a "Joyeux Noel" pillow for K's French tutor - gave it to her last night without taking a picture of it. :-( Oh well ... I liked it. *lol*

Too fun!

This little thing is for my 'other' daughter. She has a major thing for penguins ... so I couldn't resist this paper!

C has been my DD's best friend since forever. I am so tempted to grab a couple of the photos from when they played dress-up & danced to put on here, but I'll let her add her own. ;o)

A gift

A friend asked me to make one of these for her mom, for Christmas. What fun I had! Her mom is my age, so I went for a 'vintage' look of sorts. I could easily go as broke buying paper stash as I do buying stitching stash! *lol*

These are the front & 'papered' interior sections. Between each of these is a set of pages covered with plain papers, decorated just a bit to not interfer with whatever pictures she wants to put in.

I finally got some of my "vintage" stitching finished ... phew! I stitched these, then tea-dyed the stitched fabric - my first attempt. I'm pleased! The "liberty" one was dyed only once - the other two were soaked twice as they didn't take much dye the first time around. I made the pillows tonight, then stitched everything together.

Tomorrow night's our first-of-the-season CBJ hockey game - cannot wait!!! We're 6 rows off the ice - what great seats!!

Found out today my DD made our school's Renaissance program - gpa over 3.0 & less than 3 missed days (she's missed -0-). I'm VERY proud of her!!

To all who've wished me happy birthday - THANK YOU! :-)

A small wandering away from my usual stitching posts ...

The world has lost a wonderful musician to prostate cancer - Dan Fogelberg. You may not know of him or his music ... if not, please try to hear it. Listen to it, absorb it. His lyrics, his melodies are timeless and always grab your soul. And if there's a man in your life - push him, pull him, drag him to a doctor for an exam ... we've all been touched by cancer, somehow. We've all felt the loss, the fear, the anger. And each person we've lost has been someone dear, someone with a talent, a skill, a heart.

Some may think this post maudlin ... maybe. We've sat this evening, listening to Dan's music, holding our private tribute to him. He was our age - 56 years old. I'm sure that's part of why his death hits so hard ... but it's also that he's another of our contemporaries who's light is now dark. That we won't hear more from him is ... beyond sad.

Love my guy!

Friday was my birthday ... we won't discuss how old I am since I am currently older than my SO (we're 11 days apart *lol*). To celebrate, the 3 of us went to dinner at Japanese Steak House (YUMMMM!!!) and T gave me a new digital camera! YES! I am in heaven!! The HP he gave me a few years ago has been dying and I became increasingly frustrated with it. I am now the proud owner of a Canon & absolutely love it! This picture is not one I took ... it is the camera, wrapped for me. Note the newspaper bow on the top! Gotta love my creative guy!

That morning started with a good laugh ... I'd gotten up to start my day ... and fortunately, was awake enough & had the bathroom lights on because T had written "Happy Birthday - Better Not Older" on the roll of toilet paper! *lol* Never, ever boring in our home!

The weekend's been busy - as with most everyone else, I'm sure. We took X to see Santa yesterday & he did quite well, especially considering it was the first time he was anywhere near a live Santa. We had a heavy snow early in the afternoon, that changed to rain ... good thing as K hosted a Christmas party here last night with about 20 guests. I've had quite enough Guitar Hero & DDR for awhile! *lol* Two of her friends brought theirs to share ... they played Twister ... exchanged gifts ... a good time was had by all.

I got a good amount of stitching done while the kids partied in the basement - and today have caught up booster bookkeeping (I'm such a good girl! *lol*), paid bills, did laundry, fixed dinner, made the photo book (post below) and have been finishing up a stitching project.

And I wonder why I'm tired? *lol*

Tomorrow's dental appointments, maybe pick up some gift cards ... then to putting finishing touches on things I've stitched. Ok, that's what I hope to get done tomorrow after work! ;o) We're actually not in bad shape, purchase-wise, so between T & I, we should be able to have everything in hand by mid-week. Everyone cross their fingers for us please!

Weird winter weather's hit so many areas this week ... one of our friends in NH told us today the snow's waist-deep at his house - shoulder height behind his garage! He's had to have his lot plowed 7 times so far - compared to 2 or 3 past Decembers! I hope you all are safe & warm in your homes!!

Christmas crafting

A friend has asked me to make a few 'albums' for her, for gifts. This one, if she likes it, will be for her niece.

I'm getting stitching done, too, but nothing I can show here yet. ;o)

First snow

Our first "big" snow hit Wednesday - we got 5.5". Yesterday morning, everything was 'iced' and crystalized.

This first picture is looking out from our front porch - need to remember to fill the bird feeders!

The second is a metro park that surrounds us - this pic is across from the entrance to our development. We often see deer grazing in the open field.

cookie exchange

This year, for the exchange, we decided we should "wrap" our cookies as well as our gifts. Last year, we each had to bring 4 dozen cookies, which we piled on my round dining room table - then we walked around & around & around the table, gathering 1 or 2 of each as we went around. Yep, we got dizzy! ;o) So, this year, we're each bringing 8 dozen - and they're to be wrapped, ready to hand out.

So, I decided to play ... These are plain ol' white lunch bags, decorated on one side with scrapbooking paper & stuff. I hope my friends like them!

Gift exchange

A group of us band moms are having a cookie/gift exchange this evening (if the roads don't get too bad *lol*). This tuck pillow I completed last night & a little snowman ornament are my contributions. I've found a "12 Days of Christmas" game for us to play to distribute the gifts - should be fun!

Le baby!

I'm not sure where the past couple of weeks have gone (ok, I do ... gotta love uti's *not*) but here's one of the few pics I got at our Thanksgiving gathering ... my niece & her beautiful baby!

We took him for winter shoes tonight ... his first pair of Vans! :o)

as we wait for the snow

A coworker started me on this ... it's a photo album (in this case, for our niece's coming baby) made from paper cd cases. It's a bit labor/time intensive, but I am pleased with my first attempt. ;o)

I'm going to make my next one as a gift to our DIL - one for the kids' birthdays, a few holidays ... whatever in my paper stash strikes my fancy.
